A V6 mid-size pickup built for Iowa work and Iowa weekends — 310 horsepower, up to 6,720 pounds of tow capacity, and a PRO-4X trim built for the gravel back-roads.
The differences between S, SV, PRO-X, and PRO-4X show up in cab style, drivetrain, suspension tune, and off-road equipment — but every Frontier ships with the same 3.8L V6, 9-speed automatic, and standard work-truck capability.
From the work-ready S at $33,890 (King Cab) to the off-road-focused PRO-4X at $42,190, every 2027 Frontier shares the same 310-hp V6 and 9-speed automatic. PRO-X is 4x2 only; PRO-4X is 4x4 only. S and SV offer Crew Cab or (S only) King Cab body styles. (Starting MSRPs shown; destination $1,745.)
Every 2027 Frontier runs the 3.8L VQ V6: 310 horsepower at 6,400 rpm, 281 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm, mated to a 9-speed automatic. When properly equipped, max tow rating is up to 7,150 lb2 — enough for a tongue-load camper, a two-axle utility trailer, or a small fishing boat.
PRO-X (RWD) and PRO-4X (4WD) add an off-road-tuned suspension with Bilstein® performance shocks and all-terrain tires. PRO-4X goes further: standard 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case, an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, and skid plates underneath. If you actually use a truck like a truck, this is the trim that earns its keep.
Standard across the lineup: integrated bedside steps, available factory spray-in bedliner, Nissan Safety Shield® 360, and NissanConnect® with Wi-Fi Hotspot.
The Frontier is the right size for how Iowa actually uses a pickup. It fits in a standard garage, it's easier to thread through downtown Des Moines and the Court Avenue grid than a full-size, and it still tows up to 7,150 lb2 — enough for a fishing-boat run to Saylorville, a tongue-load camper headed for Honey Creek, or the haul-it-home trip to the Menards on Hickman.
If you actually take a truck off the pavement — the gravel side roads west of the city, the work sites where the path is dirt and ruts, the back acres that need a payload and not a status symbol — PRO-4X is the trim to look at. Standard 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case, an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, Bilstein® shocks, and skid plates underneath. It's built for buyers who use the 4WD button, not just buyers who like that it's there.

Up to 7,150 lbs when properly equipped.2 Confirm the exact rating for your configuration before towing.
PRO-X is the rear-wheel-drive off-road-styled trim with Bilstein® performance shocks, all-terrain tires, and PRO-X exterior styling. PRO-4X adds standard 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case, an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, skid plates, and the more capable off-road package — the trim built for buyers who actually leave the pavement.
Yes. 4WD is standard on PRO-4X. S, SV, and PRO-X are available in both 4x2 (RWD) and 4x4 configurations — PRO-X is 4x2 only as a designation, though you can also get 4x4 styling cues by stepping up to the PRO-4X. SV is the most flexible Frontier on drivetrain choice.
Five passengers in the crew cab configuration — two in front, three across the rear bench.
Up to 18 city / 24 highway / 20 combined MPG with the 3.8L V6 in RWD form.3 Actual mileage will vary by configuration, load, and driving conditions.
The Frontier is the mid-size pickup — easier to park, easier to garage, lower entry price. The Titan is the full-size truck with a bigger engine, higher tow rating, and a longer wheelbase. Different segments, different missions, different price points. Most Iowa drivers shopping a daily-driver-plus-weekend-tow setup land on the Frontier.
The crew cab Frontier is available with the standard 5'0" bed. Long-bed and king-cab configurations vary by model year and trim availability — check current Willis Nissan inventory or contact us at (866) 807-7802 for the specific configuration you need.
