A 2-row crossover designed around the driver — VC-Turbo® power, standard Intelligent AWD, and the kind of interior that makes the I-235 commute feel premium.
The differences between SV, SL, and Platinum show up in finish, audio, and comfort tech — but every Murano ships with the same VC-Turbo powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and full Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite.
From the well-equipped SV at $41,670 to the fully loaded Platinum at $49,800 — every trim shares the same VC-Turbo® engine, 9-speed automatic, and standard Intelligent AWD. You're choosing comfort, tech, and finish.
The Murano runs Nissan's 2.0L VC-Turbo® — the world's first production Variable Compression Turbo engine. It physically changes its compression ratio on the fly: higher for efficient cruising, lower for power under load. The result is a 4-cylinder that pulls like a V6 when you ask it to, then settles into highway cruise like an economy car when you don't. Paired with a 9-speed automatic (replacing the CVT in the 2025 redesign) and standard Intelligent AWD on every trim.
For 2026, the Platinum Technology Package adds ProPILOT Assist 2.14 — Nissan's hands-off highway driving assistance on compatible mapped freeways. The SL Comfort Package now bundles ventilated massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and a motion-activated liftgate. Rear knee room grows by an inch over 2025. Otherwise 2026 is a carryover of last year's full redesign — a deliberate, refined update rather than a reinvention.
The Murano sits in a useful spot in the market. If you've cross-shopped a Lexus RX or an INFINITI QX60 and walked away thinking the experience was great but the sticker wasn't, the Murano is the answer most Iowa buyers settle on. The cabin is quiet, the materials are noticeably nicer than the rest of the segment, and the design is genuinely distinctive — particularly inside, where the dual-screen dash and quilted leather in SL and Platinum feel a class above what the price suggests.
This is a highway car. Iowa's drive profile — Merle Hay to downtown, weekends to the Amana Colonies or a Hawkeyes game in Iowa City, summer trips to the lakes around Okoboji — favors a comfortable, quiet 2-row that rides well on the interstate. ProPILOT Assist 2.14 on the Platinum makes that I-35 / I-80 stretch genuinely relaxing. If you need a third row for kids and gear, that's the Pathfinder. If you want a 2-row crossover that feels finished, that's the Murano.
Willis Nissan is at 4770 Merle Hay Road in Urbandale — corner of Merle Hay and Douglas, easy reach from anywhere in the metro. We carry all three Murano trims and have certified Nissan techs and a parts department on-site. Come drive one on the roads you actually live on.

Yes — Intelligent AWD is standard on every Murano trim for 2026 (SV, SL, and Platinum). There is no front-wheel-drive option.
The Murano is a 2-row, 5-passenger design-forward crossover focused on cabin quality and ride comfort. The Pathfinder is a 3-row, 7–8-passenger family SUV with available towing up to 6,000 lb and a more utility-focused mission. Same brand, very different jobs.
Nissan's hands-off highway driving assistance. New for 2026 in the Platinum Technology Package, it allows hands-off operation on compatible mapped freeways, with automatic lane changing on driver confirmation. The driver remains responsible for the vehicle at all times — see disclosures below.4
2026 is a carryover model with targeted updates: ProPILOT Assist 2.14 is now available in the Platinum Technology Package, the SL Comfort Package now includes ventilated massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and a motion-activated power liftgate, and rear knee room is expanded by approximately one inch. The 2025 full redesign carries forward otherwise.
No — the Murano is gas-only, powered by the 2.0L VC-Turbo® 4-cylinder. Nissan's all-electric crossover is the ARIYA, sold separately from the Murano lineup.
VC-Turbo® stands for Variable Compression Turbo — Nissan's engine technology that physically adjusts the compression ratio on the fly. Higher compression for efficiency at steady cruise, lower compression for power under load. The benefit is V6-style response from a 4-cylinder with 4-cylinder-style fuel economy when you're not asking for it.
Up to 1,500 lb when properly equipped. If you need to pull a larger trailer, look at the Pathfinder (up to 6,000 lb) or Armada (up to 8,500 lb) instead.2
